FH and AtlantsOil summer race – 5k

The FH and AtlantsOil race

Sigrun and Erla went to the FH and AtlantsOil summer race last week and the goal was to just run and get the exercise.

The distance was 5k and the route was not hard so the race was very fast! Erla was like the wind and she ran her best run ever in 31:45 and Sigrun also got her personal best or 32:58 so they are extremely happy with the result :)

Sigrun’s first summerday 5k race – 22.04.2010

Today Sigrun went and ran in a 5k race. The weather was beautiful, sky was clear but a little cold *brrr* (3 degrees!)

The race was held for the 95th time and 459 people ran in it and it has never been so many! The route was down town Reykjavik and we ran around the Reykjavik pond and lot’s of people came to support the runners.

The winner ran on 15:31 and that is fantastic!

Sigrun’s goal was 34:00 but the official time came on the Internet and said 34:05. Sigrun’s GPS watch said 5.07k in 34:03 so she is a little disappointed because she also saw the time when she crossed the finish line and it was 33:59 rooooling to 34:00. But I guess she has to trust the official time :(

Sprint practices news and Summer race registration

Yesterday the Jogging Turtles went to a really fun and difficult sprint practice. We took 15 min warmup, 4xfartlet and then we went 6 times up a really steam hill but we went total 7.5 km!

When we finished we were extremely happy with our self, but when we started the sprint practices two of the members couldn’t even finish three times up the hill. WOHO!!!!

Today we decided to register to our first summer run and it is next Thursday but that is the “First summer-day” in Iceland and we have NO WORK day :) So The Jogging Turtles are going for a 5k race after a week!

Sigrun is planning her 1/2 marathon training and after few days it will be ready but the training will start 19. april. 2010 and meanwhile she is trying to get Berglind to come with her to the 1/2 marathon in August :)

Now things are happening :)

Today the Jogging Turtles went for a 3k run and after the run they ended in the swimming pool.
Berglind swam 1.2 km and Sigrún 700m, but Erla just had fun and swam few meters :)
It is snow everywhere and the snow is both hard and sometimes wet so we had to jump like a bunny to not get wet hehee..
The run was not difficult, but it was not usual because of all the jumping, but we had a lot of fun and took pictures when we were running just for the fun of it.
It was also grate to go to the swimming pool, but when we were swimming it started to snow heavily  that was rather funny.

The Jogging Turtles has gone to sprint practices with the Winter jacks every Wednesday this winter.
Last Saturday the WJacks met and talked about the coming months and there is a lot interesting practices coming up :)

We are going to practice inside four times and do some Yoga afterwards.
We are also going to swim in the sea *brrr* but before take a good running exercise and end in the hot tub.
There will be a two long run exercises where we will run for an hour so some of us are going 7 km, some 10 and some 10+ and because we have a Yoga teacher in the group she is going to take a goooood Yoga class for an hour.

I think this will be really good for the Jogging Turtles and when the summer comes, we are full of power!

Sprint practices – Getting harder and colder

The Jogging Turtles are still running :)

We just came home from our sprint practice tonight and like always we had a lot of fun. The practices are getting more difficult every time, they are longer and more challenging every time, but that is the purpose so we are happy :) The cold is also slowing us down but tonight there were only 4 degrees Celsius *brr*

Tonight we ran:
1 km run to the practice
15 min warmup with the Winter jacks
3x Fartlet 0.08m
3x Walk back
3x 700 m run, slow to faster with a 2 minutes brake

Next Wednesday the Winter jacks are going for to swim in and sea and *brrr* that must be cold!
